How it works
How to wear earplugs for sleep
Three easy steps, how to pick your tip size, and what to expect.
The short answer.
Start with the medium tip. Gently twist the earplug into your ear until it feels snug, then lie down on either side. If it presses, go smaller. If noise gets in, go bigger. Every Vespré shape sits low in your ear, so your pillow presses on your ear, not the earplug.

Sizing
Which earplug size is right for me?

- Go smaller Feel pressure or an ache by morning? Step down a size.
- Start here Medium suits most ears. Give it a full night before you switch.
- Go larger Sound leaking in, or the plug working loose? Step up a size.
- Each ear on its own Your two ears can differ. A different size in each is completely normal.

Earplugs make sound softer. They do not make the world silent.
- Silence
- Noise comes through softer, not gone. Sharp or very loud sounds can still get through.
- Alarms
- Most people still hear an alarm, but ears differ. Set a test alarm on night one.
- Babies and care
- If you need to hear a baby or someone you care for, do not rely on earplugs.
- First nights
- Something new in the ear takes a few nights to get used to. Give it three.
- Ear health
- Ear pain, discharge or an ear condition? Ask a doctor before using earplugs.

Read all questionsHow do I put sleep earplugs in?
Start with the medium tip. Gently twist the earplug into your ear until it feels snug, then let go. It should feel snug, not pushed in. If you have to force it, the tip is too big.
How far in should earplugs go?
Only until they seal. The tip sits in the outer part of the ear canal, not deep inside. If it feels like pressure rather than a seal, use a smaller tip.
Which tip size should I use?
Medium suits most ears. Size down if you feel pressure by morning, size up if sound leaks in or the plug works loose. A different size in each ear is normal.
Can I sleep on my side with them in?
Yes, that is what the shapes are for. Each one sits low in the ear, so the pillow rests on your ear, not the plug. If yours work loose when you turn over, start with Wing.
Will I still hear my alarm?
Most likely, but check. They soften noise rather than removing it. Set a test alarm on your first night. If you need to hear a baby or someone you care for, do not rely on earplugs.
Is it okay to wear earplugs every night?
They are made for nightly use. Keep them clean, let them dry fully between nights, and stop if you notice pain or irritation. Whether nightly use suits your ears is a question for a doctor or audiologist, especially with an ear condition.
How do I clean them?
Rinse in warm water, let them air dry fully, then back in the case. No soap, no alcohol, no boiling, no dishwasher.
How long do they last?
With a rinse after use and the case between nights, silicone holds its shape well. Replace them if a tip tears, stiffens or stops sealing.
